Details:

Horus 27 was the second of two launches at the 2012 WIA AGM held in sunny Mildura. A photographic launch, Horus 27 flew the following equipment in addition to telemetry systems:

  • GoPro HD Hero2 video
  • Canon G1x RAW stills camera
  • Canon G12 RAW stills camera

Launching shortly after Horus 26, the Horus 27 chase team set off as soon as the balloon was in the air.

On the move, tracking both Horus 26 & Horus 27

The balloon's ascent went smoothly, with all telemetry systems functioning perfectly. However, with only a single chase car and unfamiliar territory, the pressure was on for the team, especially when the payloads landed quite a long way from any roads or tracks. Thankfully, teamwork prevailed and recovery went without a hitch - though the new chase car did get put through it's paces!

Success! The team convenes via HF radio after recovery.

A big thanks to everybody who helped make this weekend such a success.
